We compared data from Student Math Mindset Surveys in October 2021 and November 2022. In November, 2022, most students in Grades 1 to 7 will have had 1 year of focus on developing number fluency and a positive math mindset. We were interested to see if there were any differences in the student data from October 2021 to November 2022.

There were no significant differences when comparing data from October 2021 to November 2022, but it was interesting to compare the data. We do intend to adjust how we group our survey data moving forward to the end of this school year and into the 2023/24 school year. We will focus on identifying the grade of the student in our surveys rather than the division the student is in. This will help us compare cohort data from one year to the next. For example, we can compare Grade 4 student data in May 2023 with Grade 5 student data in May 2024 (the majority of the students in both surveys will be the same).
