'Every Child Matters' Heart
The students and staff at Tait feel compelled to share a message of 'Every Child Matters' after we have learned of the tragedy that has been uncovered in the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. The discovery of the remains of 215 children has ignited a sense of horror and outrage that something like this could happen in our country. Previously, students have learned about the devastating effects Residential Schools had and still have on Aboriginal children, families and communities, however what we have come to learn this week has galvanized a new resolve in many people and a realization that outrage and horror are not enough. Tait Elementary honours the memory of these children with our 'Every Child Matters' Heart, and we hope this message provokes others to commit to sustained positive change for Aboriginal Peoples.
